Dowden’s story began with its founder, Trevor Dowden, in 1973. We originated in Mackay, where Trevor started as a sole operator, developing the local market and establishing his business on the foundations of finding solutions and old-fashioned customer service. While the years have gone by and Trevor is now retired, Dowdens Pumping has grown into a statewide organisation with more than 180 employees; however, the founding principles of the business remain the same – solutions and customer-focused.
We are now known as Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment to acknowledge our full Pumping and Water Treatment capabilities. Our strength is our ability to provide expert advice and offer our customers specifically designed or purpose-engineered equipment, offering practical and efficient solutions to most, if not all, pumping and water treatment applications.
We understand our customers’ needs, from domestic and household to general and specific industry requirements. Dowdens Industrial Products is a reliable team of experienced, industry-trained staff offering a wide range of products covering categories such as Safety, Abrasives, Cutting and Threading Tools, Workshop Consumables, Air Tools, Power Tools, PPE, and Hand Tools.
Initially opened in 1989, Emerald Air Starters and Equipment (EASE) was strategically acquired by the Dowdens Group in 2009 to strengthen and diversify the Group’s sale, supply and service capabilities for air-operated pneumatic mining equipment and heavy-duty tools to the Bowen Basin and surrounding Central Queensland coal mining regions.
