Transfer of bore water for use in nickel refining process plant

Specifications & Features:

Dowdens Pumping and Water Treatment designed and installed a Grundfos SP160-7 submersible bore pump, manufactured steel pump shroud and 160mm flanged polyrising main as part of the project to pump from the 1000mL bore to the nickel refining process plant.

Pump Duty Point: 160,000L/hr @ 135mtrs


Plant Install Description:

  • Customer has a bore with an internal diameter of approximately 1000mm, that has been drilled on an angle of approximately 35 degrees.
  • A steel pump shroud was designed to ensure correct velocity of water over the electric motor for cooling and to help centralize the pump assembly in the bore.
  • A special trolley was fitted to the shroud to enable the correct positioning within the bore casing.
  • A 160mm flanged poly pipe was used as the rising main, with a steel adaptor designed and manufactured to connect to the existing 400mm manifold at the surface.
