Townsville General Hospital engaged Dowdens Pumping & Water Treatment's [Brisbane] Engineering Department & Fabrication Workshop to design, manufacture, install and commission a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment system. The Dowdens RO system treats Townsville town water to then supply four onsite 'sterilising washers' used in the Central Sterile Supply Department of the Townsville General Hospital.

The Townsville General Hospital (TTH) is a tertiary referral hospital located in the suburb of Douglas, Townsville. The Townsville Hospital provides the very latest in cardiac, obstetric, gynaecological, paediatric, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, cancer, mental health, neonatal, allied health, anaesthetic, intensive care services to the community. Treating patients from across North Queensland, as far north as Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait Islands, and west to Mount Isa and the Gulf of Carpentaria.
